Basic Screed is a factory premixed blend of portland cement, greded aggregates, polymers and plastizing additive screed specially developed for topping of concrete floor or simply as a base screed to receive floor finishing, it is designed for manual application only and easily worked on when placed at a thickness of minimum 15mm to a maximum of 40mm per single build-up. It is formulated into 3 grades for ease of application, T1 for 15-25mm thickness, T2 for 25-35mm thickness and T3 for 35-50mm thickness.
Basic Screed can be used in both internal and external floor application on such as follows.
Basic Screed Mix shall be mixed with 16 – 20% water in rotating drum mixer for 2 to 3 minutes to reach homogeneity and delivered to the application area immediately. Care shall be exercised to avoid adding extra water which will lead to bleeding and other undesirable defects.
Compressive strength | 15-25N/mm² |
Bond strength | > 0.3N/mm² |
Working time | 30 minutes |
Yield (dry) | 1.8-2.0kg/m²/mm |
Maximum Aggregate size | 4.0-5.0mm |
All surface to be laid with Basic Screed shall be thoroughly cleaned to remove all dirt, oil, laitanoe and unsound material. Floor finishing level shall be marked at approximately 3 metre centers and work area be divided into panels less than 100m2 each and cast alternately. (chequer board). Contraction joints is require shall be installed at intervals of no more than 10 metres and at perpendicular to the length of the slab. Absorbent substrate surface chall be thoroughly wetted down to saturation prior to application of Basic Screed. Any excess water ponding shall be removed. Application of primer in the
Basic Screed can be used in both internal and external floor form of bonding agent or neat cement slurry is a good pratice.
The mixed Basic Screed material is poured onto the substrate to the require level. For big area, the laying shall be identified daily according to the availability of workmen. The termination of dairy application must be separated with proper form work in order to form a straight construction joint.
Reinforcing fabric is required for thickness of more than 75mm, to be completed in 2-3 build-up. No curing necessary for indoor application, however, it is recommended to apply good curing compound for outdoor application.
• Temperature range for use 10°C -40°C
• Clean tools with water before the product dries.
• Do not apply to extremely absorbent substrate without prior pre-wetting. In hot conditions, protect the finish surface from drying out rapidly by lighty misting to prevent powderiness.
• Do not mix the product with additional lime/sand.
• Do not apply thinner than the minimum recommended thickness of 15mm.
