Micro-Concrete is a pre-bagged shrinkage-compensated flowing micro-concrete based on Portland cement, graded aggregates, silica fume, fibers, and additives for controlled expansion in both the plastic and hardened states. It is specifically developed for large structural reinstatement without the need for addition of large volumes of water. It can be poured or pumped to reinstate reinforced concrete where vibration and compaction are not necessary. Micro-Concrete has excellent chloride and carbon dioxide resistance and is suitable for large volume concrete repair in excess of 50mm in thickness. The low water requirement ensures fast strength gain and long-term durability.

Once mixed, Micro-Concrete shall be placed immediately and continuously to maintain a flowable consistency. Micro-Concrete should be placed in a continuous operation sequence for ensuring complete grouting of space and preventing the formation of trapped air pockets. Use of grout head to assist Micro-Concrete to flow through the void is recommended. Micro-Concrete can be poured or pumped, but care is needed to ensure the formwork is capable of withstanding the pressure generated by the flow of Micro-Concrete. Cover the filled area with polyethylene sheet immediately after placing Micro-Concrete to protect against water washout. Micro-Concrete needs to be kept wet for at least 3 days. Maintain a gap width of 25 to 150mm for mechanical pumping with pre-bagged aggregate for larger volume.

All surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil, laitance, and remove all the dirt and contaminants, which might affect adhesion. All absorbent surfaces such as formwork or pre-packed aggregates shall be thoroughly saturated but must ensure that free surface water is removed before work commences. Ensure that the formwork is properly constructed and sealed to prevent the undesirable loss of Micro-Concrete prior to any mechanized pumping application.
