Liquid-Applied Flexible Cementitious Waterproofing Coating

PolyCem Flexi Standard is a two-component liquid applied flexible cementitious waterproofing coating consisting of acrylic polymer and blended special binder, filler and additives. Liquid applied as slurry, it cures to flexible membrane that is breathable to vapour but impermeable to water and moisture.

Surface preparation

Large cracks and honeycombs shall be patch-repaired with a suitable PolyCrete product to allow seamless application of PolyCem Flexi Standard. Concrete substrates should be sound, free of oil, fats, soil, mortar and paint dropping or other contaminants. Excessive laitance shall be removed by high-pressure water jet.

Mix Part A powder to Part B liquid in a clean container with a low speed mechanical mixer. Carefully mix to disperse the powder until homogeneous and lump-free slurry is achieved. Addition of water for dilution is strictly not recommended.

Pre-wet to saturate the substrate with clean water but to remove excess water. PolyCem Flexi Standard is applied in two applications. Apply the first coat of PolyCem Flexi Standard with a brush or roller to evenly cover the area. The first coat shall be left for about 3 to 5 hours depending on temperature to become tack free. The second coat may then be applied with a soft brush or roller, preferably in the other direction. The average thickness of application shall be 0.75 to 1.0mm/coat/application depending on the substrate condition. To determine this exactly, a sample area should be laid and coverage noted. Protective cement-sand topping is recommended to be installed progressively to the application of PolyCem Flexi Standard to small areas, which is exposed to strong sunlight to prevent or rapid loss of water and thus, cracking.

Precautionary measures must be taken that PolyCem Flexi Standard is suitably protected, internally against damage from subsequent trades and externally against rapid loss of water from direct sunlight and wind.
